_Can you give me some info on the collective?
We are an artist collective based in Chapel Hill, NC. The current roster tends towards, so-called indie and post rock, neo-folk, and IDM.
_I bought one of your CDs and now I can't listen to the audio on my computer. What's the deal?
If you are experiencing difficulty listening to your CD in your computer's CD-ROM drive, it's probably because your computer is interacting poorly with the enhanced CD-ROM portion of the disc. Try one of these recommended solutions:
Windows 95 / 98 / ME:
Go to the Start Menu, select 'Programs' then 'Accessories' then 'Multimedia' or 'Entertainment', then 'CD Player'.
Windows 2000 / XP:
Go to the Start Menu, select 'Programs' and then open your Windows Media Player. In the top-right corner, pull down the drop down menu and select your CD-ROM drive. Press the Play button to play the CD.
Mac:
Click the Apple Menu, select the CD Player program.
_Do you accept submissions?
We do, though please take the time to familiarize yourself with the bands we release already. Check out our radio player. It's not as though we are looking for bands that sound exactly like our own, but see if you could imagine your project sitting alongside other Bu Hanan bands before you send us your CD. Chances are, if you're a ska band or a would-be Pop diva, we're not the best fit for you. We will listen to everything sent and get in touch with you if interested. Please send demos/press kits to:

_What kinds of advances do you give?
The $0 kind. bu_hanan is more of an artist collective than a traditional record label. Artists front the money for their own projects (and make most of the profits). The label then operates as a community of like-minded artists (not like-minded music). Every artist/band is also an employee that works not only on their particular musical project but on the development of the label as a whole. bu_hanan artists promote the music of their label-mates not only because their own project will indirectly be helped, but because they believe our music is worth hearing in the first place.

_bu_hanan? That's not a word, is it? What the crap?
The label's original physical home was on one such Buchanan Street. The address from the street read BU HANAN (the "C" had, at some point, fallen off the building). For whatever reason, we pronounce it BOO:hah:nahn. If you can spell it right, it's easy to find - it's pretty much the only thing that shows up on on the internets. Then again, you're already here, aren't you?
